Foundation Types
Build your bed and transform the way you sleep from the ground up with box springs, frames, bases and more.
Box Springs
This mattress foundation is usually made of a wooden frame with springs inside. Box springs are generally used as a supportive base and placed over a bed frame to raise the height of the mattress.
-
Standard profile box springs measure 9" in height and are the most common box spring foundations.
-
Low profile box springs are usually 5" in height. This lower design decreases the total height of the bed for an easier, more natural motion of getting in and out of bed. It's also the perfect solution for higher bed frames or extremely plush-top mattresses.
-
Split box springs are made up of 2 separate box springs, making it much easier to maneuver around tight staircases and corners, and moving within narrow spaces. We offer the option of a split box spring for queen beds.
Please note: All king and California king beds come with split box springs.
Frames
The bed frame is the part of the bed that supports and provides a foundation for the box spring and mattress, while also raising it off the ground. They are often made of metal or wood, with side rails for edge support and a center bar to give larger mattresses optimal support.
Bunkie Boards
If your mattress doesn't require a box spring, a Bunkie board is a great alternative foundation for your mattress, and can be used for daybeds and bunk beds. This thin platform is usually covered with upholstery and is a great low-profile option.
Adjustable Bases
Get customized comfort and support with this electrically powered bed base that can bend, elevate and adjust the head or foot of the mattress. An adjustable base makes it easy to read in bed, watch TV or treat your body to a well-supported, well-aligned rest. They often include a remote for convenience, and some newer models even offer easy-to-reach outlets, lights, speakers, massage features, zero gravity positions to help alleviate pain and more.
